What We Do
At SF Jews in School, our work focuses on three key areas:
Action
We work with families, schools, and civic leaders to ensure Jewish students are protected and included at every level of education. We respond to incidents with care, support families through the complaint process, and push for stronger policies and accountability. By engaging directly with decision-makers — while amplifying the voices of Jewish families — we build safer and more inclusive schools for students, educators, and the community.

Engagement
Change doesn’t just happen from the top down — it grows from the ground up! Our engagement work supports Jewish parents, caregivers, and students in building relationships that strengthen both individual campuses and the broader community. Whether it’s lighting candles at an affinity group Shabbat, welcoming new families, or co-hosting a cross-cultural event, these grassroots efforts create spaces of belonging and strengthen community voice.
At the heart of this work is our Jewish Ambassador Program, empowering parents and caregivers to build Jewish presence and connection at their school sites. Together, parent and community engagement can transform schools — one campus, one connection, one family at a time.

Education
We work to ensure that Jewish history, identity, and lived experience are accurately and respectfully represented in San Francisco schools. We provide tools for parents and educators, advocate for inclusive curriculum development, and address bias wherever it appears.

We also promote opportunities to celebrate Jewish identity and culture throughout the school year — including initiatives tied to Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) — so that Jewish students see themselves reflected and valued in the educational experience.
