What We Do
At SF Jews in School, our work focuses on three key areas:
Action
We support families, respond to incidents of antisemitism, and work with school and civic leaders to promote policies that support Jewish students, families and educators in K12 schools.

Engagement
We connect Jewish families across school communities, fostering relationships that strengthen both individual school sites and the broader Jewish community in San Francisco.
We celebrate Jewish identity on campus through cultural events, holidays, and storytelling — creating space for visibility, pride, and connection.
Through community gatherings, shared learning, and open dialogue, we create opportunities for Jewish students and families to build meaningful relationships, support one another, and engage with the wider school ecosystem.
One way we do this is through our Jewish Affinity Ambassador Program, which empowers parents and caregivers to build Jewish presence and connection at their own school sites.

Whether it’s showing up for a fellow parent, lighting candles at a school Shabbat, or co-hosting a cross-cultural event — this is how we build belonging, one connection at a time.
Education
We work to ensure that Jewish history, identity, and lived experience are accurately and respectfully represented in San Francisco schools. We provide tools for parents and educators, advocate for inclusive curriculum development, and address bias wherever it appears.

We also promote opportunities to celebrate Jewish identity and culture throughout the school year — including initiatives tied to Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) — so that Jewish students see themselves reflected and valued in the educational experience.
