Find your Jewish Community at School
What happens when Jewish families at the same school know each other? Community happens.
For the 2026–27 school year, SF Jews in School (SFJiS) is helping families create Jewish affinity groups at schools across San Francisco—public, private, charter, and parochial. These groups can be whatever your community wants them to be: a way to celebrate holidays together, share Jewish culture at school, support students, advocate when needed, or simply connect with other Jewish families.
SFJiS can help with resources, ideas, and introductions to other families. This year, we're also offering the first school communities to sign up, a hosted challah-bake. Here are some examples for how affinity groups can support the community:

Come together for park playdates (with or without bagels!)

Share ideas and resources with each other for Hannukah presentations (share books, dreidels, menorah’s and more)

Bring awareness of Jewish calendar to school (example: so back to school night is not schedule on Yom Kippur and that class trip is not scheduled on the first night of Passover).

Have an affinity group shabbat or holiday potluck.

Hang posters for Jewish American Heritage Month.

Have a challah or hamantaschen bake.

Support each other if any anti-Jewish incidents take place.
